I know it may sound cliche, but the truth is when you’re working on becoming a better photographer and you just suddenly bump into one of your idols, you stop everything and yes, take as many photos as possible. Well, in my case, I know I have a photo with Steve McCurry from that day but sadly I just cannot find it! So you guys will just have to believe me. I was there!

We were a group of 4 (myself, my husband and another couple, Linda and Abe Littenberg) with Sven Creutzmann, a well-known very talented photojournallist from Germany. By the way, I met this group in Cuba in the previous photography tour. Basically, we got along super well and were so enthusiastic about exploring new places and creating visual stories that we invited Sven to join us on our visit to Rio de Janeiro and Salvador in Brazil.

I was 6 months pregnant during that trip…I had a feeling all my travel plans would have to be put aside and my Travel Photography journey would become more an exploration of my local findings… #photobymayraroubach
